Well, since I sold the STi the garage is pretty lonely now, I don't have any toys to tinker with.
I have been looking at all makes and models and I have not ruled out owning a Subaru again. I want a project car, which means something I can twist into my very own. It doesn't have to be pretty to start with but will be by the time I'm done. A older 5.0 Stang is on the list as well as the WRX. I might just stay in the Subaru camp...lets see a bugeye '02 could fot the bill.
Can't go wrong with either...
Do you want AWD? Gobs of tq?
I love the 5.0 LX Coupes, but I love AWD also...
I think the 5.0 would be more "fun" as a project car and cheaper to build/insure/etc...

I have a 1990 Mustang Convert with a 2.3 4 cylinder just begging to be modded to death but i have to wait till my STi is paid off. It is a really cheap car to mod and maintain. It would be a perfect car to wrench on. Obviously the WRX is nice too but a lot more technology to deal with compared to the stang. If you have the time and money I would go for a 98-01 2.5RS Impreza with a STi swap. Now that would be fun to do!
I bought a new GT back in 1994, kept it for about three years. It was a lot of fun. It had a 5-speed and I had a boat load of hop ups on it.
I know its played out but you still cant go wrong with an RST-(98-01Swapped) Even if you dont go all out with an STI engine/Tranny. You can still go with a WRX engine/tranny. ;)
Older stangs are great if you live in a non-snow/crappy weather type of city/state. But since its only a project/second car, then to each his own :)
this is a wrx site...so I say +1 for the WRX!!!
I looked at and drove a '01 Z06 this evening. Very quick and handles well. The only problem is I want ti have something the whole family can ride in together. My STi was a nice weather only car so driving in crappy weather will not happen with the next car.
get a swapped RS :)

Or.. and this is just me. I would take a Trans Am like Smokey and the Bandit. Just because my dad loves that movie and I would love to build one with him.
